Google just gave users control of your visibility

Search results are becoming increasingly more personalized.

Google launched a feature called Preferred Sources in the U.S. and India.*

It lets people select the publishers they want to see more often in search.

Once chosen, those publishers show up in Top Stories and in a new box called From Your Sources:

Google search results page on mobile showing the new "Preferred Sources" feature.

This matters because it's yet another way that your Google visibility could shrink.

Notice how this shifts power from algorithmic SEO to user opt-in loyalty, a much harder lever to control.

Our recommendation:

Start encouraging readers to add your site as a Preferred Source. You can integrate this ask inside articles, newsletters, and even footers.

With all the changes happening, I also recommend you get professional SEO & AI help.

My team can help you strengthen your visibility strategy (not just for algorithms, but for users). Book a quick consultation call here.

Cheers,

Neil Patel
