Your website isn’t what AI normally cites (here’s what is)

Most companies still think AI visibility comes from ranking their website pages, but the data shows something very different.

We recently analyzed 1,000 prompts across ChatGPT, Gemini, Grok, and Perplexity…

Across the board, these AI engines pulled answers primarily from:

  • Forums and UGC sites
  • Blogs
  • News content
  • Social platforms

Branded websites ranked surprisingly low, and that’s the shift most SEO strategies are missing.

AI engines don’t just look for official sources… they look for consensus, discussion, references, and content people actually engage with.

That means your AI search optimization strategy can’t rely solely on publishing blog posts on your own site.

At my agency, we’re seeing brands win when they focus on “search everywhere optimization,” including:

  • Community-led discussions (Reddit, Quora, forums)
  • Digital PR and news coverage
  • Expert-led content (on your site and beyond)
  • Social distribution and amplification
  • Reviews and third-party validation

SEO has evolved from “Can you rank?” to “Does the internet talk about you?”

If you need help making sure the internet is talking about your company…

Cheers,

Neil Patel

P.S. The fastest win is usually one strong third-party mention. If you need help making that happen, let’s talk!

This is the biggest GEO mistake… and I bet you are making it

Many companies are building their GEO strategy around “prompt volume.”

That’s a mistake. Because right now, most AI prompt-volume data is modeled rather than actual user behavior.

And unlike Google search, AI queries are highly inconsistent. People ask the same question in dozens of different ways, and AI responses change constantly.

My team recently broke this down in a post, because we’re seeing so many teams treat GEO like traditional keyword research.

Rather than chasing prompt volume, focus on:

  • Real customer questions
  • Sales call insights
  • Reddit and community discussions
  • Support tickets and objections
  • Building topical authority

AI engines don’t just reward keywords anymore, they reward clarity, expertise, and usefulness.

So instead of obsessing over prompt volume, focus on becoming the most trusted source on the topic.

That’s what AI systems consistently surface.

If you want help becoming a trusted source on topics important to your business…

Book a discovery call with my team.

Cheers,

Neil Patel

P.S. The teams winning GEO aren’t guessing what people prompt, they’re mining what customers actually ask. If you want help doing that, let’s talk!

Most franchise or multi-location brands are wasting leads (here’s why)

If you’re running marketing across multiple locations…

You already know the problem.

Some locations crush it.

Others barely convert.

And no one really knows why.

Here’s what’s changed:

AI is now deciding who sees your brand, where they see it, and how they convert.

And if you’re not using it the correct way…

You’re leaving leads (and revenue) on the table.

In our next webinar, I’m breaking down exactly how multi-location, franchise, and global brands are scaling lead gen with AI.

AI-Powered Lead Gen: The New Way Multi-Location, Franchises and Global Companies Scale

Tuesday, May 19 at 8 a.m. PDT

We’ll discuss:

✅ How to scale lead generation across 10, 100, or 1,000+ locations

✅ Where AI actually improves performance (and where it doesn’t)

✅ How to increase lead quality—not just volume

✅ The exact 30-day rollout plan we use with clients

👉 Register now to get the live link + replay access.

See you there,

Neil Patel

The future of SEO includes LinkedIn

LinkedIn is becoming more than a social platform.

It’s becoming a search engine.

LinkedIn’s latest guidance shows the platform is prioritizing:

  • Long-form content and Articles
  • Depth over quick engagement
  • Original perspectives
  • Clear structure and storytelling

And here’s the big shift:

LinkedIn Articles are increasingly surfacing in search results and AI-generated answers.

That means your content isn’t just a post anymore.

It’s an SEO asset.

Most companies still treat LinkedIn like a short-term engagement channel. They repost blogs, chase likes, and miss the bigger opportunity.

If you want LinkedIn to drive real business results, it needs to become part of your SEO, content, and link building strategy.

The companies winning right now are building authority, creating searchable content, and turning LinkedIn into a long-term discovery channel.

If you want help leveraging LinkedIn as a part of your SEO strategy…

Book a discovery call with my team.

Cheers,

Neil Patel

P.S. The companies winning on LinkedIn right now aren’t posting more, they’re repurposing smarter. We can help with that, let’s talk!

If AI doesn’t cite you, you don’t exist (upcoming webinar)

What if your best content never gets clicked… but still drives revenue?

That’s not a hypothetical.

It’s already happening.

AI tools like Google’s AI Overviews, ChatGPT, and Perplexity are answering questions before users ever visit your site.

Which means:

  • Your rankings can go up, while your traffic goes down.
  • Your content can be “seen”, without being clicked.
  • And your brand can be invisible, if it’s not cited.

So the real question is:

If decisions aren’t happening on your website anymore, where are they happening?

During our next webinar, I’m breaking this down step-by-step:

The Rise of Answer Engines: How to Get Cited, Trusted, and Chosen in the AI Era

Tuesday, May 5 at 8 a.m. PDT

Here’s what you’ll learn:

  • Why rankings are becoming less relevant—and what replaces them
  • How AI actually decides which brands to cite (and ignore)
  • The new content model built for AI extraction, not clicks
  • How to build authority *outside* your website
  • A 30-day plan to start showing up in AI answers

This is one of the biggest shifts in digital marketing in the last decade.

And most teams haven’t adapted yet.

👉 Register now to save your seat (and get the replay)

See you there,

Neil Patel

PS: If you’re not being cited by AI, your competitors are. That gap is only going to grow. If you want help, let’s talk.

AI is now deciding what your emails say

Gmail and Apple Mail have moved beyond spam filters and predictive text, email summaries are now the default. That means ISPs are deciding what parts of your email get seen first… not you.

Why this matters:

Your message may be consumed without the email ever being opened.

Click rates may drop (even if performance doesn’t).

The “top” of your email just became the entire email in many cases.

So, what should you do?

  1. Frontload your most important message (so AI pulls it into summaries).
  2. Include the benefit early on, it gives people another reason to open up the email.
  3. Focus on revenue and conversions, not just clicks.

If you need help adapting your email strategy or even creating one…

Click here to book a discovery call, my team can help do it for you.

Cheers,

Neil Patel

PS: If AI is rewriting your emails anyway, you might as well make sure it’s saying the right thing. We can help, let’s talk!
