Google search market share

For the first time in 10 years, Google's global search market share dipped below 90% in the last quarter of 2024—but that's not the whole story.

In the U.S., Google actually hit above 90% for the first time ever in November of 2024, according to StatCounter.

And for mobile searches, Google's market share worldwide is still well above 90%.

But other search engines are picking up queries—not necessarily at the expense of Google, but in addition to the searches that are happening there.

For example, Bing went from 3.37% to 3.97% over the last year. It's still tiny compared to Google, but it also powers a lot of other search platforms, including ChatGPT Search.

I have no doubt that Google will keep playing a major role in search for years to come.

But you also need to optimize for niche platforms your audience might be using.

My team can help you find out which ones to focus on, and how to optimize your content for maximum visibility online.
