For the first time in 9 years, Google has shared how many searches it processes each year. The answer: 5 TRILLION. In 2016 (the last time they announced it), that number was "more than 2 trillion." This is good news for marketers—a solid SEO strategy will continue to drive results. But it's not all sunshine and rainbows at Google, according to a recent survey by Vox Media and Two Cents Insights.
Google isn't taking these developments lightly and continues to innovate in an effort to keep users on its platform. They recently upgraded AI Overviews with Gemini 2.0 and launched a new AI Mode for premium subscribers. I predict that Google's market share will shrink as more people are turning to alternative search channels. But just like TikTok did not kill Instagram and Instagram did not kill Facebook, ChatGPT is not going to kill Google. Look at these shifts as more opportunities to get more customers from multiple platforms and grow faster. Wanna discuss the latest SEO shifts in person? Let's find a time to connect!
